This guide walks you through installing the Live Set Viewer device and confirming it is working.

Prerequisites

  • Ableton Live 11 or 12 with Max for Live
  • A modern web browser

Steps

  1. Download the Live Set Viewer device from the download page (pick your price or download for free).

  2. Unzip the downloaded archive. You will find a file named Live Set Viewer.amxd.

  3. Open Ableton Live with the session you want to visualize (or create a new one).

  4. Drag Live Set Viewer.amxd onto any track in your session. It does not matter which track — the device scans the entire session regardless of where it lives.

  5. Open the Max Console (Window > Max Console in the Max editor) and confirm you see:

    lom-handler-v8.js: script loaded
Live Set Viewer server listening on http://localhost:19741
  6. Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:19741.

You should see your session’s tracks and devices rendered as an interactive node graph. The viewer updates automatically as you make changes in Ableton — no page refresh required.

Keeping the device available

If you want Live Set Viewer available in every session without dragging the file each time, move Live Set Viewer.amxd into your Ableton User Library:

  1. Open Ableton’s browser sidebar.
  2. Navigate to User Library > Presets > Max Audio Effect (or any Max for Live device folder).
  3. Copy Live Set Viewer.amxd into that folder.

The device will now appear in your browser sidebar and you can drag it onto a track in any session.
